“Men are walking on the moon today,
planting their footsteps as if they were
zucchini on a dead world
while over 3,000,000 people starve to death
every year on a living one.

Brautigan killed himself when he was 49. I read an interview with his first wife today. She seems like a hell of a lady. Substitute teaching in Hawaii, at least as of several years ago.
I started reading “Better Never to Have Been” by David Benatar today. Not going to finish it. Too much of a treatise. I’ve already read Spinoza, I didn’t need that kind of density again. I guess I was hoping for more pathos though I understand Benatar is working as a philosopher.
Brautigan references the assassination of RFK (Bobby Kennedy, not the guy who is currently trying to bring measles back). Bad news all around.
Had Brautigan lived, maybe he’d still be who he was – we all change, of course, but maybe we get better. Or maybe he’d have gone religious. Or maybe he’d have sobered up? Twelve step programs are pretty useful. I mean, I feel emotions these days, which is fairly new.
But just in time for fascism, so that’s bad. But maybe I’ll feel positive emotions, and that’s good. But there’s more horror than happy in life, so that’s bad.
Comes with a free Frogurt! (That’s good!)
The Frogurt is also cursed. (That’s bad).
The gas station up the street is locally famous for its frozen yogurt. Like decades famous. Wild. I like the tiny Peppermint Patties they sell. 25¢.
That’s good.
